Via Todd P:

hey there BrooklynĂstas!

--- TONITE --- last minute DIRTY PROJECTORS show!!! with YEASAYER -&- Golden Ghost @ DON PEDRO'S

====> WEDNESDAY 6/20 @ DON PEDRO'S <==== :: Dirty Projectors :::: Yeasayer :::::: Golden Ghost [ DON PEDRO'S ] 90 Manhattan Ave @ McKibbin St | East Williamsburg, Brooklyn L-Montrose, G-Broadway, JM-Lorimer | ALL AGES | $6 | 8PM -- MYSPACE --> http://myspace.com/donpedrosnyc

[ DIRTY PROJECTORS ]
Dave Longstreth + multiple guitar, bass, drums, percussion & dual female harmonies = (this incarnation of) the Dirty Projectors. Fantastic guitar, beats, deep throated pitch perfect crooning, and rock backup band create layered sonic visionary experimentalism, African guitar sounds and rhythms, interspersed by perfect voiced pop shimmers and shards. Easily the best band from NYC right now.

[ YEASAYER ]
Self-described "Middle Eastern-Psych-Pop-Snap-Gospel", via their myspace page. "At times, the foursome projected a wholly distinct vibe like a manic Peter Gabriel -era Genesis channeled through Animal Collective but the band also manipulates their collective vocals (yes, they all sing) producing a sweet, harmonious cacophony" -- MTV.com, "Seven Bands from SXSW That Will Matter" 3.20.07

[ GOLDEN GHOST ]
dreamy, noisey, poppy experimentalism like Joana Newsom meets High Places meets the Softies meets noisey-ness. Golden Ghost is Laura Goetz, frequent Silent Barn bartendress, formerly of The Sweaters, and a sometimes member of Castanets.

Apparently Grizzly Ed thinks the new DP album will change lives. From what I've heard so far, I agree it sounds very promising. The only other NYC date they have coming up is at the Whitney on Fri July 20.
