NYE @ Knitting Factory
You may find me here on NYE. After The Jump are sponsoring this show, which as I'm sure you know is the last ever for Knitting Factory @ 74 Leonard. Details can be found here.
Surfs Up
Or waves as in the hand gesture. One you may have heard of because of all the buzz he/they have been getting. They have two Vs and are from California. The other is from Seattle. They have one V. Both are worthy of a listen.
Wavves
Just noticed that they are kicking off their pre-SXSW European tour in Feb/March with shows on the east coast, including two in Brooklyn!!! Get a taste of what you will surely be hearing even more about come March.
Waves
Haven't been to NYC yet, maybe sometime soon. They like to make Explosions in the Skyish noise, but sloppier. Not that that's a bad thing.
Jeniferever News
It's been a while since Jeniferever have popped up on my radar. Their most recent Myspace bulletin is filled with lots of interesting news and hints at the possibility of the band FINALLY coming to the US (if you really read into it). Here's the info:

We're going to tour most of Europe in late spring and in the end of 2009/beginning of 2010 we will try go see the rest of you. More info about tour dates for the spring will be posted soon.

Five
Recently, whenever people come to me asking for new music to check out the first two bands that come to mind are pow wow! and Tijuana. As I've previously mentioned, the latters music can me downloaded for free here. But except for the tunes at their Myspace, pow wow!'s music was a little harder to get a hold of. Until now. Five "singles" can be downloaded freely (ignore the "promotional only" stuff, they now want everyone to have it) here for a limited time. Enjoy!
And surely once a flyer for pow wow! and Tijuana's show @ The Annex in Feb surfaces you will see it posted here.
