Alamo Race Track @ The Annex - Pics

The crowd came out to The Annex in the Lower East Side for Club NME openers Alamo Race Track. All the way here from Amsterdam, Minty Fresh recording artist Alamo Race Track had the audience on their feet through nine songs from their sophomore record "Black Cat John Brown". BCJB has only been out in the US since July 24th, but good reviews in the press and blog world, a frenzied following on You Tube, and being the #1 album in Lincoln, Nebraska has created quite a buzz that had the crowd shouting out requests to singer Ralph Mulder. While the band was unable to accommodate the shout out for "Wild Bees" off of their first record "Birds at Home", they did close with crowd and sing-a-long favorite "The Northern Territory". Hopefully the band will soon return to NY to treat us to more music and play my request for "We Like To Go On". Yes I'm awaKe to keep myself from falling.......

Alamo Race Track

You may or may not remember that I sort of posted about Alamo Race Track once before. Well I am quite happy to report that they are making their way over to the states from the Netherlands for SXSW and a FREE(!!) NYC gig at Rebel on Mon March 18. The Rebel show is a Rocks Off Presents showcase of six bands from the Netherlands, including two "&" bands, Kraak & Smaak and C-Mon & Kypski, Voicst, About, and Excelsior labelmates zZz. If you enjoyed Johan at Knockout Round 2 and are looking for more of the same, this is it. I highly recommend going to this show and checking out Alamo Race Track. Go to their Myspace and listen to some tunes, many which I think sound very Beatleish, or go here and watch a ton of videos of the band, including this one:

I'm very happy to see all of the US buzz for Alamo Race Track. Also, via Filter:

Completely agree. Was rocking out to Black Cat John Brown (the song AND the album) again today. ART are playing at Club NME night Thursday w/ The 1990's, who's album I was rocking out to yesterday. And WAS are djing. Needless to say, I strongly reco heading over to The Annex Thurs night. Reposting this video, because it is really, really great:

Coincidently, just the other day Subinev Bryan wisely recommended Kinetic to me and I'm glad he did. They are real good. Check em out. They'll also be at The Delancey next Fri 2/22 w/ former KOers Cinema, Cinema. CC at 11, Kinetic at 11:45. $8

Sidenote - Anyone else enjoying Breaking Bad as much as I am??? And after last weeks Lost, which was probably the best episode of the series so far, last night's episode was a huge letdown and was probably one of the worst.

edit - Ok, so after rewatching last week's Lost, I take back my comments. The episode was good, but I am still not sold on the flash forwards.

I was listening to WNYU the other day. The '(Make The) Product' show was on. Good stuff. Really need to tune in to NYU more often.

I'm sure you've heard by now that KEXP is coming to our NYC airwaves. NICE. Maybe there is hope for us afterall.

Is it weird that I bought a V-day gift for my iTouch? I dream of a day where our love will be socially acceptable.
