Jen has put together a CMJ showcase for her 5th Floor bands. She's having it The Delancey on Sat Nov 4. Also, we'll be announcing our CMJ lineup this week, fingers crossed, too!

Very Sad News Indeed

Just got some very happy news. Following it up with some sad news. Via The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower's Myspace:

Very Sad News...

09/26/06

The Plot regrets to inform you, beautiful Plot-heads worldwide, that this fall tour will be the final chapter in the Plot's history together. We will be completing this tour and a final San Diego show (not Oct. 12th) and then disbanding. A seven-song mini LP, "Saviours & Suckers", will be released posthumously by ThreeOneG.

Over the course of the last five years we have accomplished and exceeded every goal we had set out to accomplish. We saw the world, and in the process made half of it fall in love with us and the other half wish us dead. We released records that will surely be regarded as classics in the years to come. We made life long friends in faraway places. Perhaps most importantly, four best friends watched each other grow from boys to men.

Please attend the shows on this upcoming tour as it will be your last chance to see the Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower.

xoxo - Your Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower

GO SEE THEM AT CMJ.

A Note To Anyone Who Cares

Since apparently I'm turning this place into CMJ central and since I've been busy recently with putting together KNOCKOUT! and other general randomness, many things have gone unmentioned. Here is a quick summary of some shows I've been to that I've been meaning to post about.

Friction lived up to my expectations. As good as Annuals were, I have to say it - Femme Generation stole the show. They were so excited to be back in NYC and all of the excitement was slapped across our faces. Fast paced hyper madness gets a big thumbs up from me. There were streamers, there was confetti, there were gigantic bags of candy, all of which got dumped on our heads. Got their album at the show and it's just as fun as their live show. Only negative thing about Femme Generation was that they were a hard act to follow. Is that even negative? Takka Takka were a pleasant breather after Femme Generation, and Annuals were very impressive, but Femme Generation is what I remember most from this show. Didn't get there in time for A Brief Smile (sorry guys, catch ya soon).

Slowlands / Margot and the Nuclear So & So's at Union Hall
. Union Hall is the best venue in NYC. Maybe anywhere, ever. I can't even begin to imagine what it took to put that place together, but Bravo! Everything about this place was class. The decor, the furniture, the beer selection, the garden/smokers lounge, the bathrooms, the bocce courts, and of course, the food. I'm still thinking about the dinner I had there. Always nice to see a brilliantly stocked jukebox too, with all these places switching over to those crappy electronic, touch screen "jukeboxes". Now about the bands:

Finally saw Slowlands. What a great show. The slow tunes were freshly shaved smooth and the faster tunes were all sorts of fun. Margot and the Nuclear So & So's are a band that you absolutely must see live if you have not yet. See them while they are still cramming all eight members on a 10' x 10' stage, because it's not going to last for much longer. This band knows how to take their songs and get everything they can out of them live. They nail the parts you want them to nail and they jam the parts that you want them to jam. Their songs graduate from college and head out into the real world right before your eyes. See this band.

Man Man @ Spiegeltent. First of all, showed up at the Spiegeltent to find out that the show was sold out. Many thanx to the guy who hooked me up with a tix.

Move over 'Beirut at Sound Fix', this show needs some room at the top of the list of my fav shows of '06. I felt like I was abducted by aliens and taken to another planet, where they worship this crazy pirate-punk band. These guys hypnotized the crowd, whispered in their ears "Go completely bonkers", and then snapped their fingers. There were people holding breasts over their head, people chocking each other while making out, and a guy from a barber shop quartet. I still have completely processed what I experienced at this show and I don't think that I could ever see this band in a more appropriate venue than Spiegeltent. It's true, Man Man just might be the best live band out there (after Radiohead, of course ; )).

Some quick thoughts about Mr. Beery's this past Sat. Josh of Slowlands pulled off a great solo set. Requests were played, hands were clapped. I love seeing bands/band members step it up and shine in different situations (Rogue Wave KEXP instudio, Matt & Ira of Nada Surf acoustic at Sound Fix), and Josh's set will be memorable for that reason. I enjoyed Other Passengers set even though they were a bit too loud. I need to get my hands on some of their recorded music and see how it compares to their live show. After Other Passengers, the crowd swelled for Aeroplane Pageant. The new songs made it harder to wait for the new album. I want it now. The singalong to "How Distant" was the highlight of the night. So glad I finally got to see Rahim again since seeing them last year for the first time when they opened for Les Savy Fav. This band is so tight live. They have their own interesting sound and I like it. I want to go see them again this weekend. More on that (and maybe more on this show) later.

Some CMJ Findings

According to La Rocca's Myspace, the band is going to be at Pianos on Thur Nov 2 for a CMJ showcase. La Rocca are on Dangerbird. Silversun Pickups are also on Dangerbird. And they love Pianos. Hmmmm....

The Picture's Myspace has them at Pianos on Fri Nov 3 for a showcase. French Kiss are also having a showcase at Pianos on the 3rd.

Pat pointed out that Myspace are having a CMJ showcase at Sin-e on Tues Oct 31. No bands are listed yet. Pat also likes to exaggerate. And send me funny emails.

That is all.

BTW - Not related to CMJ, but this is quite funny. Thanx Sean. Yanks = WSC'06

Born Ruffians @ CMJ

Toronto's Born Ruffians are coming to NYC for CMJ. Musebox (here's the old site, Myspace) are having a party at Lit on Thurs Nov 2 and they've invited Born Ruffians and Whitey. Surely there will be more. This date is in the middle of Born Ruffians tour with Hot Chip and Shy Child, who are playing at Webster Hall on the 2nd, so....?

Canada continues to impress. Born Ruffians are one of the best bands I've stumbled upon in a while. Highly recommended for fans of Of Montreal. Take Of Montreal's dancier tunes and sprinkle in some surf rock and off you go. They also kinda remind me of CYHSY (read: Hi-pitch vocals, "jangly" rock). Listen to the songs from their Piecing It Together 7" at their Myspace. So good. Their self-titled 6-song EP is being released by Warp on Oct 17.

As if there weren't already enough to do on Nov 2. Man oh man.

On the list.

The Mugs / The Muggabears

The Mugs.

No, The Mugs is not short for The Muggabears. They are two different bands, but they both rock.

The Mugs are getting ready to go out on a tour that will take them to the West Coast and back. Before they go on tour, go see them this Sat at Rockwood Music Hall at 10:00PM. When they return home, they will be back at Rockwood on Sat Oct 28, again at 10:00PM.

Wanna hear some tunes? Go to their Myspace and listen to some songs from their 2005 debut album, Paper Sissors Rock. Of the four songs in their player, I like "Frank" and "Running Out" the most. If you like the songs as much as I do, you can buy the album here. And/or you could go here and download their entire Daisy Cutter EP. I celebrate their entire catalog.

Here's another pic of the band from their recent show at Union Hall:

Speaking of The Muggabears, some more dates were posted at their Myspace:

Fri Sept 29 - Trash Bar w/ Gritty Midi Gang and Lomita
Tues Oct 10 - Delancey - Beg Your Pardon/Earfarm One Year Anniversary Party
Fri Oct 20 - Galapagos - Crashin In Party w/ The Coast and Mattison

Help Rogue Wave's Drummer

If I was going to be in San Francisco on Sept 30, I would go to this. Since that's not going to happen, I'm going to donate some $ and you should to. It's terrible that something this bad has to happen to someone so cool. Here's the info:

On September 30th 2006, Rogue Wave will host a benefit concert at The Independent to raise money for drummer Pat Spurgeon, who is in desperate need of a kidney transplant.

The benefit concert will feature performances by Rogue Wave, Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie,) Matthew Caws (Nada Surf,) Ryan Miller (Guster,) John Vanderslice, and other special guests. Daniel Handler (AKA Lemony Snickett) will MC the event.

Pat was born with one kidney and it failed. He had his first transplant in 1993, which served him well until now. After 13 years, it has started to deteriorate. He has been on dialysis since April and is hoping desperately to find a donor. Some of their friends have gotten tested to see if they are a match, but Pat has yet to hear good news. Provided he finds a donor, there will be an enormous amount of costs that both Pat and his donor will incur.

In a logical world, medical insurance would cover his donor's and his expenses after the procedure, but it does not; so he and his family must carry the financial burden. The expenses can be huge. We are trying to raise money for costs like: donor's travel, care, bills, lost work wages, etc., as well as Pat's expenses, care, bills, etc. while he is in recovery.

If you cannot attend the show, we encourage you to donate whatever you can by visiting www.roguewavemusic.com

Thank you for your love and continued support,
Rogue Wave

Sound Fix Instore Update

The Tokyo Police Club instore on Wed Oct 18 is now at 6:00PM. Not 8:00PM

Also, Au Revoir Simone are doing an instore on Sun Oct 15 at 4:00PM. Here's what Sound Fix has to say about it:

We've been trying to book this one for a while. Before embarking on an international tour, Au Revoir Simone kicks things off at Sound Fix. Like a lo-fi Stereolab or Broadcast, this all-gal, all-keyboard trio makes some of the sweetest, smoothest electropop you'll hear.

As always, both shows are free.

The End Of The World / Professor Murder

First, about this weekend's ERMP. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get to the amphitheatre until 4:00pm. Because I was more familiar with them than any of the other bands playing, I thought that The End Of The World and Professor Murder were going on last. Of cource, I was very wrong. They went on first and I missed them. And Home. But I did get to see Love As Laughter (couldn't get into them, maybe I was just bummed about missing the other bands) and White Magic (I liked them a lot and wouldn't mind seeing them again sometime soon).

BTW - I spoke briefly with the ERMP staffer who "got street on that guy" and she mentioned that she has video of it. Can someone upload that to You Tube and send it to me? Because I would love to post it.

Back to TEOTW and PMurder. Some more chances for me (and you) to catch them live:

The End Of The World's debut full length You're Making It Come Alive is being release by Flameshovel Records on Oct 31. They are celebrating by having a record release party at Mercury Lounge on Fri Oct 20 w/ The Subjects and Stylofone. $10. Here are the set times (so you don't make the same mistake I did):

- 11:30 -
STYLOFONE
- 10:30 -
THE END OF THE WORLD
- 9:30 -
THE SUBJECTS
- 8:30 -
JAMES KOCHALKA SUPERSTAR

Listen to some songs from the album at their Myspace or download one here:

The End Of The World - Last Cast

Professor Murder. Love the yearbook pictures. Almost as much as their songs. Here's their Myspace. In addition to this CMJ showcase and opening for this Supersystem show, they will be doing a free instore at Rocks In Your Head on Wed Oct 12 at 6:30 PM.

Download their WOXY Lounge Act here.

Nigel Goodrich TV Show!?!

Have you heard about this yet? Nigel's developing a TV show that's going to consist of him and his friends hanging out in his basement playing music. Huh? Completely random, but great news for Radiohead fans, because we all know who one of his best buddies is. And yes, he's appearing in the first episode! Best thing about this is that all of the episodes will apparently be available as podcasts. Via Rolling Stone via atease:

Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich has turned his attention to TV. He's shooting a new series for British television called 'From the Basement,' with Thom Yorke performing live in the first episode.

Rolling Stone writes it will feature performances from an incredible line-up of musicians (and with no studio audience, albeit with some undisclosed visual accompaniment).

The first episode, which has already been shot, features the White Stripes, Thom Yorke, and Four Tet. The second, currently in production, will feature Beck and British artist Jamie Lidell. "I'm interested in the visual arts side of things, and somehow integrating that into what records have become," Godrich tells us, adding that "From the Basement" will be available as a video podcast in the coming weeks. "People don't buy albums so much because, as a medium, it's changing, so I'm just trying to figure out what it's changing into, and chasing after that."

WOXY / Finest Dearest

Have you guys been listening to WOXY? Only three days left! Better soak it all up as much as you can. I've been trying to listen as much as possible. Mike, Barb, and Shiv sound upbeat, but it's gotta be killing them. Anyway...

Just heard a band I've never heard of before on WOXY. Finest Dearest. And they are great. You see, this is why losing WOXY is so terrible. On a daily basis you can hear a song by a band that could become your new favorite band. I'm not saying that Finest Dearest have become that for me, but you know what I'm getting at. So Finest Dearest. They are from San Fran. Go to their Myspace and listen to March Into Flames, the song that was played on WOXY that caught my attention. They kind of remind me of Forget Cassettes, but not as hard, and there is definitely a PJ Harvey thing going on. Also recommended if you like Victory At Sea. No NYC dates listed as of right now. You can buy their Peacemaker EP at Insound. Here's another funny picture of them, minus one band member:

Union Pool - CMJ Weekend

Bloodshot Records Annual CMJ BBQ Party w/ Dead String Brothers, Mark Pickerel, Scott H. Biram, The Silo, The Meat Purveyers, Paul Burch

Hmmmm....interesting. If anyone has any idea what that's all about, feel free to drop some knowledge.

Nightmare Of You & White Whale

Was on the hunt for more CMJ info and found this:

White Whale is the special guest. Via Insound:

The Sass Foundation for Medical Research and Insound present:

Nightmare of You + White Whale

Friday, November 3
at The Landmark on Main Street - 232 Main Street, Port Washington NY
[directions]
Doors at 7:30pm
All ages

Tickets - $15

All proceeds go to The Sass Foundation for Medical Research in their ongoing battle to fight cancer. For more info please visit www.sassfoundation.org.

It's not CMJ, but close enough. White Whale CMJ date(s) will be announced soon, which I imagine will include the Merge Showcase. Let's keep up this trend(?) of bringing shows back to Long Island.

Update: White Whale out. SSLYBY in.

This Sat - ERMP -> Union Hall -> Man Man

This Saturday is going to be another epic day of music. First stop - ERMP, for their last and best show of the year. 5 bands! 2-6PM. Go here for all the info you could ever want.

Next stop - Union Hall for this show. Battering Room fav Slowlands opening. You know who headlining. Doors are at 8. The venue is suggesting that you show up early and with ERMP ending around 6ish, that shouldn't be a problem. And I hear that UH has good eats, so seems like an ideal dinner location.

After Union Hall, if you have any energy left, it's off to the last stop:

The Spiegeltent for Man Man. Show starts at midnight. Advance tix are here. I'm told that Man Man are currently the best live band out there and I can't think of a more ideal venue to see them.

So, if you get to ERMP in time for the first band and then make it to Man Man, you will have paid only $25!!! for 8 bands ($10 at Union Hall, $15 for Man Man).

Matsui / Abreu

In his first game since May 11, Hideki goes 4 for 4, gets an RBI, and scores 2 runs. Welcome back Matsui, you were missed. Now lets get you a ring!

I agree with Kaat and Flaherty, Abreu is the player of the week. 2 for 3 tonight, 7 RBIs. Almost hit a Grand Slam too. Keep up the good work Bobby.

Cornelius - Music

I just noticed something awesome that completely made my day. A new Cornelius song - Music. Go listen to it at his Myspace. Apparently it's the single off a new album! NEW ALBUM! Which means maybe he'll tour. Which means maybe he'll come back to NYC! His show at Bowery Ballroom the last time around was easily one of the top 5 shows I have ever seen. It was absolutely amazing. The Five Point One DVD is one of my most prized possessions that isn't actually my possession. Sorry Scott, you may never get it back.

Tokyo Police Club - Sound Fix

That's right, Sound Fix!

Tokyo Police Club. Wed Oct 18. 8:00PM. Free. Here's what Sound Fix has to say about it:

The buzz machine is at full-throttle for this foursome from Newcastle, Ontario, and their infectious, hooks-driven pop. Their debut record hits our stores on September 26. You may not know them now, but you will soon.

I have a feeling that the time they have listed is wrong, because Tokyo Police Club are opening for Art Brut at Warsaw that same night, and that show also starts at 8:00PM.

The Glasslands - New Brooklyn Venue

UPDATE - If you are looking for the Glasslands concert calender, go HERE. And then scroll way down.

Mystery solved. Seems like as a Manhattan venue closes, a cool new Brooklyn venue come along to pick up the slack. Luna Lounge, Rothko, Avalon, Continental, CBGB. Union Hall, McCarren Park Pool, Studio B, and now...

The Glasslands @ 289 Kent Ave, Williamsburg.

Not to be confused with Glasshouse Gallery. But there is a connection:

I will be opening a new art/music/sports arena with the inimitable Brooke(of Glasshouse Gallery fame) over on Kent by the old Domino sugar factory. I would like to call it Rupert Murdoch or maybe more mysterious like phantom 289, but i'll have to run that by my bp (business partner) first. The place is about 2200sf of pure electric fun. It'll also be the new headquarters of: I and Ear record label (www.ierecs.com)--------------- Freestyle Non Profit Arts (www.freestyle-arts.org)---------- and Indoor Hockey 2006 ta-da! We will begin our monthly rotating art installations in september. A new website should be up and running-- but for now go to : www.brookebaxter/glasshousegallery.com or just check back here to keep track of what's happening.

Here's what's on their calander:

9/12 Tall Firs (ecstatic peace) cd release, awesome color, jah division
9/22 Lil Howling Wolf, Coachfingers (of no neck blues)(Locust)
9/29 Sir Richard Bishop (fr. Sun City Girls)
9/30 Jessica Rylan fr Can't, Door. Hi Red Center, Rocket Surgery
10/2 Yellow Swans/ Grouper/ White Rock (mem mouthus/double leopard)
10/5 Zs more tba

and of cource,

10/7 Oxford Collapse (subpop), Cause Co-Motion, CHin up Chin Up dance party

Annuals - Sin-e Is The Place To Be This Thursday

Annuals are coming to NYC this week.

Everyone is buzzing about Annuals. And so am I.

I just got my tix today. Very. Excited.

So excited that I'm going to re-post the flyer.

Don't forget about Femme Generation. Rachael likes A Brief Smile. AND Takka Takka.

I was working on a post about how Annuals will also be at Northsix on Friday (Tix) for a show with one of my new favs, The Diggs, that would also include the mp3 for "Two Months Off." But Crackers United beat me too it and wrote practically exactly what I was writing. So instead, just go here. Here's the full lineup of that Northsix show:

Heineken & The Onion presents:
The Diggs
The Station Myth
Annuals
The World Without Magic
Arizona
$10 Doors: 8pm Show: 8:30pm

I have a feeling that Annuals' set will be a bit longer at Sin-e.

Movable Hype 9.0

movable hype 9.0

Hosted by the cast of The Burg! I love The Burg!

Jen's got the details. One, possibly two, bands still TBA.

Update: O'Death have been added as an opener. Indie-licious really likes them. The Yeti and J like them too. The special guests remain a secret.

Slowlands - Back @ Union Hall

If you can't wait for this show or these shows, go to Union Hall this Saturday. You won't find it listed on Slowlands website, Myspace, or Union Hall's Myspace, but trust me, they will be there. Doors are at 8:00. Tix are $10. And they are opening. I think you already know who they are opening for.

And oh yeah, online tix for Union Hall coming soon.

Bring on the playoffs, hell, bring on the Mets! It's gonna be a bloodbath.

Windish Agency CMJ Showcase

Windish Agency's CMJ '06 Showcase will be at Northsix. What's unsure, is if it will be on Thurs Nov 2 or Sat Nov 4. Windish says the 4th. Northsix and TicketWeb say the 2nd. The majority wins, even though I'd prefer the 4th. The 2nd is getting crowded. Anyway, here's the lineup:

The Pinkertones
Earlimart
Death Vessel
Lavender Diamond
Fink
Findlay Brown

Tix go onsale tonight at Midnight. $12

EARLIMART!!!

Added to The List.

the lymbyc systym Touring With The Album Leaf

I posted about the lymbyc systym back in June. I'm glad to see that they are going on tour with The Album Leaf. Seems like a perfect match. The only NYC stop with both bands is in Brooklyn at Northsix on Mon Nov 6 w/ Roger O'Donnell of The Cure, Psychedelic Furs. Tix on sale.

As I've previously mentioned, The Album Leaf will also be at Bowery Ballroom on Thurs Nov 2 for the Sub Pop Showcase.

the lymbyc system have dates open on Oct 31, Nov 2, and Nov 4, so don't count them out for CMJ as well.

BTW - Show #2 + Show # 3 + Show at Mercury Lounge = 3 CMJ shows for Tokyo Police Club

I've wanted to see We Are Wolves for a while now.

And speaking of Apes & Androids and OMR, the band will be helping to celebrate the website's B-day at The Annex on Mon Oct 30 w/ Cause Co-Motion! and Titus Andronicus.

The Mars Volta - Amputechture

The Mars Volta's new album Amputechture, is in stores tomorrow. Or you can listen to the entire album today. It's streaming at their Myspace. I think the album is OK. It's The Mars Volta. Nothing really new here. Hardcore TMV fans will like it. Pitchfork will slam it tomorrow. I predict maybe 2.4. (Update: I was close, 3.5) Pitchfork is so silly. They like albums with songs, and this isn't a song album. There are no singles, no standout songs at all. While this isn't much of an album, I will say this: I don't think that TMV are really about albums. They're about their live show. And these songs will be great live.

Speaking of TMV live, can they please please please play somewhere in NYC. I'm not going to the shitty Continental Airlines Arena. No chance in hell.

The Drink At Work Show - Now Every Monday

Here's the good word:

Revolutions are almost always characterized by savagery and a drastic change to the power base that often results in further violence. Remember the Russian Revolution. Or the French Revolution. Ot that episode of the Smurfs when they overthrew Gargamel only to turn on each other and realize that 1) Smurfs turn into malt balls, not gold and 2) Harmony Smurf made Idi Amin look like Snuggles the Fabric Softener Bear by comparison. So much bloodshed. So many high-pitched screams. So many carcasses mistaken for crushed blueberries.

But we at Drink at Work have something else in mind. We seek to revolutionize the New York comedy scene, but not in a way that results in social disarray or such barbaric scenarios as "two-drink minimums" and jokes that start with "So I was buying a hoodie at Brooklyn Industries when..." But we need your help. We want to say goodbye to "cool" and to triple-digit bar tabs. We want people to laugh and relax on the cheap. We want to break down all structures of government and replace them with non-hierarchal institutions, each named after a different Care Bear. We have so many plans, but we're probably just going to focus on the first two.

So with that in mind, we invite you to join us tonight — and every Monday — for The Drink at Work Show at Ace of Clubs. Tonight, host and local agitator Carol Hartsell welcomes a stellar line-up of revolutionary comics, including:

Joe DeVito
— Comedy Central, Montreal Just For Laughs Festival
Becky Donohue — Comedy Central, Girlcomic.net
Keith Farnan — BBC Television, Edinburgh Festival
Schaffer the Darklord — Killing Time with Schaffer the Darklord
Charles Star — Stay Free!

And, as always, performances by the leaders of La Resistance, Craig Baldo, Sean Crespo and Francesco Marciuliano, as well as an after party that kicks your work week off right—with a hangover.

Join us. Fear is a four letter word. Comedy is six. Think about it.

The Drink at Work Show
Tonight! (And every Monday)
8:00 P.M.
Ace of Clubs
9 Great Jones Street
(Below ACME)
$5 Cover

And here are the line-ups for every monday up to October 23rd

September 18th:
The Rob and Mark Show, Rob Paravonian, Jack Kukoda, Andrew Wright, Rebecca Ciletti, DJ Hazard

September 25th:
Victor Varnado, Sean Lynch, Max Silvestri, John F. O'Donnell, Maggie Lauren

October 2nd:
Tom Shillue, Joshua Grosvent, Mike Burns, Dan Goodman, Mike Birch

October 9th:
Jesse Popp, Ann Carr, Poppi Kramer, Rob O'Reilly, Nick Rutherford

October 16th:
Jesse Joyce, Anthony Devito, Matt McCarthy, Joe Powers, Bricken Sparacino and Jenn Hyjack

October 23rd:
Reggie Watts, Jackie Monahan, Vince Averill, Matt Little, Brad Steuernagel, Greg Barris

Some More CMJ Shows

These bands will be appearing at CMJ on these dates at these venues:

Wed Nov 1 - Figurines - Bowery Ballroom
Wed Nov 1 - Mixel Pixel - Pianos
Thurs Nov 2 - Margot and the Nuclear So & So's, The Elected - Bowery Ballroom
Thurs Nov 2 - Hot Chip w/ Shy Child - Webster Hall

I hope that this isn't the only Hot Chip CMJ date. I won't go see them at Webster Hall during CMJ. Maybe Filter or Fader will get them to play at one of their daytime parties.

Jets @ Titans

New York football has arrived.

The Jets looked good today. Pennington looked great today. 319 yards. 16-0 into the fourth quarter. Gets the big touchdown to break the tie and win the game. Coles looked great today. 8 receptions for 153 yards. The Jets secondary looked great today. 3 interceptions! Dyson was having fun making his former team look bad. Nugent looked...not so great today. Missed extra point, two missed field goals. But the Jets wanted it more and get a promising first win for rookie Coach Eric Mangini. Pennington staying healthy = the Jets winning many games this year. Hopefully this year is his first full, uninterrupted-by-injury season

But to keep things in persepective, the Titans are aweful. They turned it on just enough to tie the game in the fourth, but it was too little too late. Their recievers are dreadfully bad. Young got his first NFL snaps and things got exciting, receptions were made...ooooooo interception. So sorry, back to the sidelines for now. I think they should have let him stay in, because Collins wasn't any better. At least we could maybe have seen Young do a little running, like Vick was doing today. I'm glad I don't have to root for a team with a player named Pac Man.

Now a little break until the New York football team closest to my heart plays. Hope this game lives up to the massive hype it has been getting. I don't care what others are saying, I don't think the Colts are going to be as strong as they were last year. And the Giants have made improvements to their division winning team, so it should be a good game. Am I the only one who is psyched to have Arrington on the Giants? The Penn State fan in me can't help it. Speaking of Penn State, so much for being ranked. Notre Dame looks scary good this year.
